Meet the Team
Executive Leadership
Greg leads the Counteract International team in carrying out the mission to equip incarcerated youth for success. Prior to Counteract, he served 16 years in key leadership positions on Capitol Hill, in the U.S. Department of Justice, and at the Kansas Department for Children and Families. Greg received a Master of Public Administration from George Mason University in Virginia.
Ron builds partnerships between Counteract International and churches, individuals, civic organizations, and businesses. Before joining the team in 2011, Ron served 40 years in pastoral ministry in Lawrence, Kansas, and Harbor Springs, Michigan. He graduated from Ozark Christian College and received his Master of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Kansas.
Edward develops relationships with Central American groups, including churches, businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. He works throughout Central America to recruit partners who want to help youth succeed. Edward first began as a volunteer with Counteract in 2008 following 22 years of service in the U.S. Air Force.
Soledad oversees all programs and operations in El Salvador. In 2007, Soledad joined the team after serving for 13 years in leadership positions at the country’s child welfare department. A social worker by profession, she has worked throughout Central and South America helping abused and abandoned children.
Nahun leads the Counteract team in Honduras. For the past 12 years, he has worked in violence prevention and youth leadership development programs at Christian Stewardship Ministries, ASJ (Association for a More Just Society), and World Vision. Nahun earned his Master of Arts in Project Management from UNITEC (Central American Technological University).
Juan guides the programs and operations in Guatemala. Juan has served in the international nonprofit community for the past 16 years, including work at International Justice Mission (IJM), Compassion International, and Healing Waters International. Previous to that, he worked 13 years at the Church Centro Biblico El Camino. Juan graduated with a degree from Central American Theological Seminary in Guatemala.
Andrea directs and coordinates programs across El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. Before joining Counteract, she taught high school Spanish in Michigan for nine years. She has worked and studied abroad in Mexico, Central America and Africa. She holds a B.A. in Bible & Cross-cultural Missions from Kuyper College, a teaching degree in Spanish from Calvin College, and a Master of Arts in Education and Technology from Cornerstone University.
Julia carries out a variety of administrative and communications responsibilities, including social media, newsletters, donor correspondence, and project coordination. She has a Master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Hospitality Management and an undergraduate degree in Education.
Board of Directors
Dave is founder of D. A. Dunlevy Landscapers, a landscape design company serving the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. region. Dave and his wife Angie live in Frederick, Maryland. He joined the Board of Directors in 2012.
Mike is retired President and CEO of American Maritime Holdings and Técnico Corporation. Mike and his wife Diane live in Chesapeake, Virginia. He joined the Board of Directors in 2009.
David is current Executive Director of Cru Military and retired Brigadier General with the Virginia Air National Guard. David and his wife Terilyn Goins live in Yorktown, Virginia. He joined the Board of Directors in 2003.
Joe is founder and President of Public Transportation Insurance Specialist, Inc. Joe and his wife Rebecca live in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He joined the Board of Directors in 2017.
Phil is founder and CEO of NaturaLawn of America, an organic-based lawn care company with 90 franchise locations in 25 states. Phil and his wife Deborah live in Frederick, Maryland. He joined the Board of Directors in 2019.
Peter is co-founder of Beards Brewery and Director of Investments at Manthei Capital. He and his wife Kari live in Petoskey, Michigan. He joined the Board of Directors in 2022.
Alejandro is Program Director for Forest Stewardship Council and has more than 25 years of experience in international development. Alejandro and his wife Kenya, originally from Honduras, currently live in Panama. He joined the Board of Directors in 2023.
