Three Amigos Work Together to Launch a Business

Walter has faced many difficult challenges in his young life, from a troubled childhood to negative peer influences to incarceration. Today, though, he has friends in his Orphan Helpers network who are giving him the boost he needs.

Walter is currently pursuing a computer engineering degree with scholarship assistance from Orphan Helpers. At the same time, to help support himself, he is striving to launch an entrepreneurial venture.

Recently he entered – and won – a contest in his local community in El Salvador for the best business project. The award provided him with seed capital for his cleaning product business, which includes disinfectants and liquid soap.

When a potential customer heard about the business start-up, he expressed interest in a large order of Walter’s products. However, Walter’s business needed to be legally registered before the customer could complete the purchase.

Walter shared this challenge with two friends he gained from the network of Orphan Helpers’ released youth, Diego and Everardo. Diego is a business administration student and Success Academy alumnus who has offered to guide Walter through the business registration process. Everardo is a graphic design student and network member who has offered to create a unique logo and slogan for Walter’s products.

”It is exciting and empowering how these young men are looking for ways to help each other,” says Johana Jules, Orphan Helpers Aftercare Coordinator, who works to build relationships within the group. “They each have something unique to offer and they are playing on each other’s strengths. I’m overjoyed to see them making meaningful connections and being an example to others in our networking group. It’s truly a blessing to watch.”
